Herbs Growing

Fresh herbs are currently growing in the front garden. We're having some problems with Japanese beetles though. Hopefully the Milky Spore we bought will take effect, and this won't happen next year.

Coyoteas.com returned

Good news! CoyoTeas.com has been restored. Coyoteas.biz will remain for at least the coming year, but .com is our primary name.

Coyoteas.com is becoming Coyoteas.biz

Due to registration problems, we are registering Coyoteas.biz for our website as an emergency backup. Hopefully we will be able to grab Coyoteas.com when it becomes available again.

In the meantime, as always, our website can be found as a subdomain at our sister-company Dreaming Gates: http://coyoteas.dreaminggates.com.

New Product

Introducing...

Caramel Cherry Cheesecake!

Sweet, creamy caramel blends with cherry flavor for this exquisite combination. A fantastic dessert tea. Pure Orange Pekoe black tea infused with rich real butterscotch chips, sweetened cranberries, marigold petals, sunflower petals, and safflower petals, and natural flavors. All natural flavor, no artificial additives.

Is your mouth watering yet? ;-)

Also, I've brought nearly everything fully back into stock, with the exception of a few slow-sellers. If people want those, of course, I'll be happy to restock.

Enjoy!

Website Upgrade

Major changes to the website. Details below...

Long Story:

The hosting company pulled a surprise forced-upgrade on me: all SQL 4 databases are being deleted, and must be converted manually to SQL 5. This involves creating new SQL 5 databases, dumping the SQL 4 contents into them, then checking the entries to make sure the conversion went okay (a change of charsets was part of the process). On top of that, because the shopping cart is not compatible with SQL 5, it required major upgrades to the PHP code. So while I was in there, I fixed not only the code which accesses the database, but also brought the code up to the latest release version, line by line. No automatic upgrader. That's what I get for being cheap and using an open-source shopping cart. Yay.

Short Story (a.k.a. English Translation):

My hosting company changed stuff. That broke my shopping cart. It took me 3 days to fix it. I made big changes. And I don't know if I've found all the problems.

If anyone would like to help me test the site, I will give 10% off your next (actual) order.

All you have to do is:

1.) Use the site, look at different sections, make sure they load. No weird "syntax errors" or "unable to access database" stuff.

2.) Play with your address book & account information. Maybe add a shipping address, delete one, change your info. Make sure that the changes stick.

3.) Send in 2-3 fake orders with "TEST" in the comments section. In order to make the purchase go all the way through, you can select "check/money order" for your payment, or if you trust me, just finish the transaction through Paypal. I will refund any money you spend on tests. Absolutely. Coyote's honor.

Please post ANY bugs you find, here in the comments section.

Thank you, from one exhausted Coyotea. I mean, coyote.

New Products & Catalog Updates

While going through and updating prices, I uncovered a handful (or pawful?) of new flavors. These are now included in the "special order" section. Here they are:

    NEW Special Order 500g

  • Ginger Green Tea - Pan-fired quality sencha tea blended with real ginger pieces lends a clean bite to this tea

  • Genmaicha Green Tea - Cut, torn, and curled style. Bright and coppery taste combines luxurious green tea leaf with the distinctive toasty rice of genmaicha. Great with or without milk. Contains premium green tea, toasted rice, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, coriander, cloves, black pepper

  • Angel Falls Mist Fruit & Herb Blend - Strawberry and lemon combine for this sweet, tangy tea. Bold, bright with sweet fruity strawberry flavor, and a slight tart quality. Contains with a touch of apple, hibiscus, rose hip, orange, and calendula petals. Great hot or iced.

  • Bumblefruit Fruit & Herb Blend - Bright and energetic, a lively tea with plenty of flavor. Contains natural dried apple, rosehips, hibiscus, orange, cornflower, rose petals, blackberry leaves, and natural flavors. Great hot or iced.

  • Pina Colada Carmen Miranda Fruit & Herb Blend - A tropical blend of exactly what you expect from a pina colada: pineapple, tropical fruit, and coconut. Also contains dried apple, hibiscus, rosehips. Great hot or iced.

    Removed:
  • "Shanghai Lichee Jasmine" Flavored Green Tea

  • "Jasmine Golden Flower" Exotic Tea

  • "Formosa Oolong Superfancy" Exotic Tea scratch that; I found it again :)

    Prices Lowered:
  • "Star of China" Artisan Exotic Tea

  • "Darjeeling White Tips" Exotic White Tea

Also, I corrected a few minor description errors in the catalog, like descriptions of green tea as black, etc.

Coy is ordering tea

Getting ready to make another order of tea. Does anyone want anything? Please let me know ASAP.

On a related note, I took a look at the distributor's current price list. Yowch! Most of these prices compared to just a few years ago have gone up 30-40%! I'm going to have to raise the prices for special-orders on CoyoTeas.com. :(

I will have to really think about the prices for 100g bags. I do not want to raise them, yet. They've been $5 for 100g for so long! But it's very hard to cut a profit, between these higher prices and the huge freight cost.

This will require some thought.

Coyoteas.com is still alive

Hello, friends, I know it's been awhile. I haven't been blogging because things have been so quiet. The downturn in the economy has dampened sales, possibly because "gourmet tea" is considered a luxury item, and so many folks are having trouble buying just the essentials.

Not to fear, though, CoyoTeas.com is still here. This past November I renewed our domain name for another five years. We're looking at upgrading the shopping cart in our site, and there's even a phone number where you can leave a message:

1-40-TO-DGATES
1(408)634-2837

That's the phone number for our parent company, Dreaming Gates, but rest assured all messages regarding tea will come to me. :3

Take care, all.
